I recently purchased a 120gb mSATA SSD for my y500 with the intention of using the SSD to boot from and to hold the programs I use frequently while dumping everything else on my 1tb HDD. From what I have looked up it seems that the way to move the os to the SSD is to just clone my current HDD. It seems like the simplest way to do this would be to just backup my files on an external and then do a factory reset so I have minimal files on the HDD before cloning to the SSD and just deal with reinstalling all my old programs and files. Is there a way I can move just the os to the SSD without getting rid of everything else first? If I do go the clean install route is it safe to reformat the HDD once the system is booting from the SSD or would it be better to leave the windows files on the original HDD?
