Y500: mSATA SSD as primary hard drive, while keeping HDD and 2 GPU's

hello.

I consider buying Y500 and I have a question about possible hardware configuration:

I want to buy a Y500 version without 16GB mSATA SSD(i.e. 59360242), and add my own 256GB mSATA SSD:

http://www.plextoramericas.com/index.php/ssd/px-m5m-series

Then make the 256GB mSATA SSD the primary drive(boot drive: including windows, softwares, etc), keep the orginal 1TB HDD as storage drive, AND add another GPU(via UltraBay).

Would that be possible and work properly?

Thanks.

Edit:

I would also want to know if the mSATA supports 6GB/s?

Yes, you just have to turn off the UEFI boot option and put your SSD above the standard drive in your boot priority.

Re: Y500: mSATA SSD as primary hard drive, while keeping HDD and 2 GPU's

Why do I need to turn off the UEFI boot option? (and how to do so- article about it?)

What I want to do is add the mSATA SSD, format the original HDD and make a clean win8 installation on the SSD.

How should I do it?

Re: Y500: mSATA SSD as primary hard drive, while keeping HDD and 2 GPU's

You turn off the UEFI because otherwise it will force you to boot from the standard drive. Then you install Windows on your SSD and format the other drive.

Re: Y500: mSATA SSD as primary hard drive, while keeping HDD and 2 GPU's

So there is no way to use UEFI when using SSD as the primary drive(and HDD as a secondary drive)? I'm not sure how much different will it make - I never used a computer with UEFI.

Thanks for replying.

I haven't noticed any difference when not using it.
