Y500 not booting

2013-07-14, 7:46 AM

Hey

Im from germeny and sry for my bad english but i just try to explain my Problem to you.

Hallo ich versuche mein Problem so gut wie möglich zu schildern:

My System:
Lenovo Ideapad Y500
i7 Core Prozessor
Nvidia G Force Gt 650m mit Ultrabay
8 Gb RAM
Vorinstalliertes WINDOWS 8
3 Monate alt.

Some day at surfing the Internet my Notebook just freez. I had to shut it down with the power button.

After that im not longer able to start it again.

It is booting to the LENOVO logo and nothing happens.

If i switch it three times on and off Automatic Repair will start but nothing happens, too.

I tryed tu push the NOVO button on the side of the Laptop, then star the recovery.

I will put some pictures in Here that will show you what is the problem exactly.

In my opinion somthing with the Partition or the Bootprogramm is not ok. What i can do about that.??

Pls help me :)

I dont know how to attach Pictures to here but you can see them on a German website i have allready asked the question:  here the website :http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=1230129

Hi Alex

Welcome in lenovo forums

The only solution is to restore the machine to the factory setting , please follow the below steps to performe the recovery :-

1- with the machine off press on the Novo Button

2- alist of option will display please select system recovery

3- then you will find yourself in step one of the recovery process

Please let me know if there is anything else needs to be clarified

Thanks

Alaa

hi Alex1003,

In addition to what SEAlaa have said, you also may need to check your HDD and RAM for consistency as these components are mostly the one that causes the issue. If you have an HDD+SSD combo. you need to test both drives.

To run the diagnostics:

1. Download and install a free trial of HD Tune and run an error scan on the HDD/SSD.

2. For the memory test, use Passmark's BurnInTest and click on Quick Tests > RAM or boot from a bootable Memtest86+ diagnostic utility..

If you get any errors on any of the test above, you may need to replace the defective components. As for the screenshots that you posted,  this looks like a physical damage. May I know how did that happen? I'm afraid it'll be difficult for you to get the unit sent for warranty repair due to this case.

Best regards,

neokenchi

Since pushing the NOVO button has no effect and the windows automatic repair has no effect you cannot install any diagnostics program or any program at all and run it. The only program/programs that can be run are self bootable like the memory diagnostic program cited by Neokenchi. Run the memory diagnostic program first to insure that it is not the memory that's causing the problem. If it is not, since this is startup problem, one possibility is to run the windows recovery media from a usb or from a dvd (if you have created them earlier). There are other third party programs also that you might want to try.

What caused the damage, as seen in your pictures? It looks like the plastic melted. Did you have any overheating problems?
