Y510 not recognizing drives

My unit has stopped recognizing its disc drive and the usb ports.  It started with the disc and the usbs have been slowly following suit.  The disc drive functions.  If the button is pushed, it opens normally and lights when a disc is inserted - but then the compter will not acknowledge anything as there.  It will still occassionally recognize hardware inserted in a usb but not reliably.    This has been a great work-horse unit so any ideas will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: Y510 not recognizing drives

hey Hucklebuck,

welcome to the forums.

i'm intrigued by this and would like to know, when did this all start ? was it recently?

was any new software installed or anything done to your unit?

If you could, head over to this link : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=12

crosscheck with your unit and if there is anything out of date, update it.

If the issue still remains, give our tech crew a call :
