Y510P 59370001 drivers in HDD and SDD

Recently bought the lenovo Y510P (59370001).  Updated drivers from intel for rapid storage and NVIDIA for the GT750M sites as most on lenovo are outdated.  A few questions:

1.  Before updating the graphics card I was unable to see any settings in the NVIDIA control panel other than 3D settings.   After updating, I am still only able to see the 3D settings, is this normal?  Why can I not see other settings?  Is it safe to have these display drivers on my laptop or should I revert back to lenovos provided drivers?

2.  Related to 1.  After updating rapid storage, wireless card, and graphics card, I noticed that the 24GB SSD that came with my computer still only has drivers from the older NVIDIA versions.  In my 1TB HDD, I see the updated drivers, but the SSD still has the old lenovo provided ones, would it be safe to replace the folder in the SSD?

3.  Intel rapid storage doesn't have the acceleration option or any options really, just says my HDD and SSD are working fine.  What can I do with this SSD in order to cache things and makes games such as WoW and League of Legends faster?  Do things get put into my SSD automatically, or should I be doing something?

Re: Y510P 59370001 drivers in HDD and SDD

Hi Wingz,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I have gone through the questions and below are their answers:

  1. The 3D settings is same for any NVIDIA control panel and even after updating the latest driver, also there is no issue if you install the drivers from the NVIDIA or Intel website.
  2. Please do not go ahead and replace any files that is provided in SSD even if it is older version of drivers in it.
  3. SSD is integrated in the computer because to increase the boot time and also it has pre-installed OS (Operating System) image to use it when the OS gets corrupted, hence acceleration option is not displayed in BIOS as well.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Thanks for the reply, it was helpful/

Unrelated problem: I recentely turned on my computer, when booting it froze up and gave me BSOD error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.

Why am I getting this error on a brand new laptop?

What can cause this to happen is if you disable a start-up item called "Program" in Windows 8 Task Manger. As Task Manager lists no information for this at all I tried disabling it, and got the same error as you.
