Y510P Dual GPU, can i change the UltraBay to SSD caddy?

Hey,

I have the Lenovo Y510P with dual GPU and an SSD. I was wondering if i can take out the second GPU (the one in the UltraBay) and replace it with an SSD caddy to make an upgrade to the storage. Because my second GPU doesn't worth the while, the computer hits up a lot with the SLI enabled and crashes all the time while playing games.

Thanks in advance,

Tal.

Re: Y510P Dual GPU, can i change the UltraBay to SSD caddy?

hi Tal,

Adding an SSD via an HDD caddy on the Y510p is definitely possible as another user have tried this already in this thread (note that if the drive doesn't get detected, you may need to toggle the switch pin in the caddy).

Alternatively, if Y510p came with a 1TB+24GB M.2 (NGFF) SSD, then you can replace the M.2 SSD into a bigger capacity (like this item).

Let me know if this works for you.

Regards
