Y510P Dust Cleaning problem.

2014-07-03, 3:27 AM

I recently thinking about open up Y510P and to clean to fan inside, but im having problem removing the back casing. I unscrewed everything and managed to remove the 'click' mechanism on other parts except on the bottom left part. When i applied more force trying to remove the casing on bottom left part, it feel like there's something holding it and im afraid of damaging it because i saw theres another casing attached together with the outer casing, when im trying to pull it up, seems like im not only pulling the other casing. Does anyone have experience on this?

Hi Lupeus,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m sorry to inform you that by performing this, Laptop warranty will get VOID. Hence, we have provided a feature “Dust Removal” which makes the Fan run faster than normal to make all the Dust/ Foreign particles to vent out automatically this can be performed in LEM (Lenovo Energy Management). Please let me know if you have performed this step.

Hope to hear back soon

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Why not just get a can of compressed air and blow it into the vents? After that, you enable dust removal in the Energy Mangement program. Do these several times.

Hi Lupeus,

As this is a Laptop FAN cleaning and not same as Desktop the best option is to take a trained Technician. And the Vent is located at the Left side of the Laptop, below is the image for the same:

And I would strongly suggest you to contact our Technical Support for further Assistance regarding the concern and to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
