Y510P "plugged in, charging" but battery is not charging

Hi guys, I ran into this problem a few days ago where the laptop is plugged in, it says its charging, but the battery % won't go up at all. It started around 16% and each time I unplugged it for whatever reason it would go down but when I would plug it back in it wouldn't charge it back up. So now I'm at 8% and afraid to unplug it again.

I have the Energy Management set to Balanced, Maximum Battery Life, and it's status is "Charging" and "Good".

Any help is appreciated, thank you guys.

Re: Y510P "plugged in, charging" but battery is not charging

hi kanyewest,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try the following:

1. While having the battery and AC adapter plugged-in, boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2) and unplug the AC adapter until the system shuts off (this is to compete the discharge the battery).

2. Once the machine shuts down, remove and reinsert the battery and plugin the AC adapter then let the battery charge for about 2hrs while the machine is off and observe the battery lifght indicator. After 2hrs, power up the machine and observe the battery percentage.

If the battery is stucked at 0%, I recommend you contact lenovo and report your findings as the battery may need to be replaced.
