I recently purchased an IdeaPad 510p (59402102) with the i7 4700MQ and GT755m (non-SLI) and aside from Windows 8 I am loving it! My game of choice lately has been Skyrim and it runs flawlessly however when I unplug the laptop my frames plummet into the single digits. Ive set my power settings to high performance, nothing. Set Skyrim to run on dedicated graphics, nothing. Set global settings to dedicated, nothing. I cannot figure out how to fix this.
I ran cpu-z and noticed this change in clock menory:
this is while plugged in
this is with the laptop unplugged
Does anyone know whats going on and how to fix this?

It's working as design, so there's nothing to fix
However, there's a way to go around it. You can force performance state using nvidiainspector. It's rather dangerous, as battery cannot supply the same amount of power as AC adapter.

I see. Thank you both for clarifying this.
How dangerous exactly is this tool? I dont intend on gaming without the charger very often just on transit or in between classes. Sessions last no more than an hour without the charger.
Is there an approved batterry pack that would make this safer as well?
