Some day I was using my laptop and then left it on for a while because I have to do something else (I left it for about two hours). When I came back the laptop was dead (at least I thought that because it was not charging the battery nor starting up with the charger plugged in). A couple of days after that I tested the laptop again, plugged in the charger and it was charging again the battery. I could start the system fine. After a reboot the system was not charging again, but the battery had some charge so I could start the laptop again.
In summary, there's not problem with the battery (there is power going from the battery to the motherboard), there is no power going from the charger to the battery (sometimes it does, sometimes don't, but the most times don't). With the battery unplugged and the charger plugged in there is no power going to the motherboard.
battery and no charger -> ok, power to the motherboard
battery + charger -> sometimes works, but almost never
no battery, only charger -> does not work
Power jack tested and it's ok. Charger tested and it's ok.
Also trackpad stopped working, windows does not recognize it.
Thanks for your help and sorry for the long post.

Hi cblana ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
We appreciate the details as this would leaves us to a power issue between the ac adapter (tested working) with a motherboard (works ok on charged battery) .
Power checkout (page 21-22) similar to what you have isolated leaves us with systemboard issue specially if a similar ac charger would not be able to power the laptop.
Would charging the battery while not turned on gives off changes on the battery indicator from amber to white?
You can also try setting BIOS defaults on the exit tab and see if any changes would help. Hardware manual would direct to probable systemboard replacement.
