Y510p - problem starting laptop

Hello,
I have a laptop y510p that for some time now, not boot normally. When I try to turn it on, the screen is black, without turning up lenovo logo. Sometimes if I wait long enough it starts (mabe  after 15 minutes), but sometimes it not starting. I tried to remove the battery and power and give the command to start for emptying parasite energy, but did not resolved the probleem. Now, lately, it appears to happen this hard starting more often. I pulled out and ram, I tried to start with only one of the ram card, I reversed the order between them...

Please help

Re: Y510p - problem starting laptop

Hi dudescuman ,

Greetings.

Take the opportunity to back up anything that you would need from the machine.

Running lenovo diagnostics with temperature checker would help isolate points of failure.

BIOS and Lenovo logo should still appear even without a harddrive .

How is the power LED and Battery LED status (page29) ?

Would pressing the caps and num lock on / off show any response from the leds?

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Re: Y510p - problem starting laptop

Hello,

sorry for late response.

Well leds looks normal.

I found something very strange. It starts every thime if I press power button inverted. (my settings for lid are to do nothing, and with lid almost closed, inverted I can turn on the laptop)

So I think it's a problem of hardware, but what is the problem, I really dont know.

Mabe you have ideeas.

Best regards,

Teodor

Re: Y510p - problem starting laptop

Hi dudescuman ,

Greetings.

Would there be any problem turning on normally without the harddrive or would it also work if the laptop is inverted?

You can try checking for impinged / loose cables on the dc port if you have the tools .

Herewith is the hardware manual for reference .

Regards
