Re: Y550 No Intel VT Support?

Checked my y650 today. I used the Intel Processor Identification Utility to verify they my CPU did support hardware virtualization.

I then went to see if I could configure it in the bios, and no option was there. FYI I do have windows RC installed, so I installed the new windows virtual pc anyway, and sure enough it would not work because hardware virt. was not enabled.

Unless they can guarantee a bios update to enable this feature I will be return this laptop.

Malimal - Contact support and request a BIOS update for support on your laptop.

Re: Y550 No Intel VT Support?

Which number to call, which email address to request bios update?

Lenovo Global does not support Turkey. They said that i should have called Turkey, Istanbul.

I called support for Turkey,

Ersin and Turgut tried to help me and reported the issue to their managers, however i couldn't even got a single reply stating that will be a bios update or not.

So, LENOVO Headquarters, i hope you are monitoring here and provide us a solution?

I had to give up from my rock solid desktop to purchase and use y550,

Everything seems ok except missing (or disabled) vt support.

I definitely want to have this feature, this is what i paid for and not provided?

I'm working at a IT Company and suggesting people to buy Lenovo. However, if no option provided in 3 days, i will think about writing a blog post at my website and also a popular hardware forum of Turkey.

I want to return my product and request a refund if VT won't be enabled.

Re: Y550 No Intel VT Support?

Well, I have my case opened. Will post further details once I speak to the Customer Relations team. I suggest everyone post the results of their calls to Lenovo on this issue.

Re: Y550 No Intel VT Support?

I contacted Lenovo Technical Support and opened a case file for a BIOS update.  The representative indicated that another person had also recently called and that they had escalated the issue and were currently waiting for management action.  She has escalated my case as well.

Looks like we're at least making some noise and getting Lenovo's attention.  If you haven't already sone so, please contact Technical Support (877-453-6686) and request a fix for enabling VT support.

Re: Y550 No Intel VT Support?

Glad that you phoned them. If enough do perhaps it will make a difference. I'm not holding my breath and would frankly sell my Y530 but we'll see.

Re: Y550 No Intel VT Support?

Well, followed up on my call.  No updates yet. The support rep I spoke with is going to check with customer relations again as well he escalated to level 2. So hopefully I will get a call Monday. Please call in if the lack of hardware VT is an issue for you. The more of us that phone the better our chances of getting this option in the bios firmware. Cheers
