Y560 and eGPU - not recognized

I have old Ideapad y 560 Laptop with on board AMD Radeon graphics. I was trying to hook up eGPU using PCI-E cable to NVidia Gtx 960 GPU, but it doesn't recognize this. I looked into BIOS, dont have advanced BIOS settings, i tried swithing between Switchable and Discreet graphics, nothing work. Does anyone have any idea, about how to do this? I think if i somehow get advanced bios settings, then can disable onboard graphics that might help.

Re: Y560 and eGPU - not recognized

I don't think Y560 has support for external GPUs.

Which port are you connecting it to??

Re: Y560 and eGPU - not recognized

to PCI-E port. I am using "EXP GDC Laptop External Independent Video Card Dock / Laptop Docking Station (Mini PCI-E interface Version)" to connect GPU to laptop. Removed wireless card from lenovo- PCI-E and put this dock in there. GPU has its own powersupply etc. Followed all the procedure needed to do it right, but yes if laptop is too old and dont support this sort of interface then i think its not going to work. Anyways thanks for reply.
