So i'm a bit frustrated here. I've only had my Y570 for 2 weeks and I thought maybe it was just breaking the battery in or something, but it seems as though the battery life does not want to exceed 2.5 hrs!
I've tried everything from wifi off, brightness low, gpu off, energy star mode on to the opposite, and the battery life will not exceed 2.5 hrs!
It is supposed to be 4+ hrs if I remember correctly?
I called up tech support and the lady was telling me it was because of some services running in the background etc...I told her it has nothing to do with that, rather I think the battery may be defective or just not juiced properly at which point she says, "Oh, send it in the svc center!"
Me: "Are you kidding me? It's 2 weeks old and you want me to send it in??"
Her:"Oh...what would you like?"
Me:"Send me a replacement..."
Her:"Sure, let me just put a hold on your cc and it will be removed when we get the battery back."
On top of all this she was trying to sell me an additional 1yr of warranty with a $50 discount for $50 - which is fine if I was keeping the laptop.
Specs are amazing, price was amazing (picked it up for $800 - i7,6gb,750gb hdd,gt555m) just hoping it lives up to its name.
Would you guys be so kind as to post real battery life life usage?
edit: So now there have been several issues with the laptop
I have had 2 BSODs occur randomly within the past 2 weeks while doing normal word-processing at which point, the switch in the front of the laptop would not function.
The wireless is having a hard time connecting at school, at home it works fine, but doesn't work at school - always getting a "limited connectivity". Everyone else is able to connect but me.
I am seriously considering returning this laptop

Battery life of my y570 varies greatly from one to five+ hours, in most cases it should be around 4 hours, I think - once I watched hd video on lowest brightness for nearly four hours. Battery life depends mainly on GPU/CPU load, so you should check for processes that "eat" CPU first.
I may also advice you a couple of things: firstly, check if discrete GPU is running. It consumes much power, so it can be the cause of your problem. if not, you may install some software, which can monitor the power usage and battery capacity, for example, hwinfo can do it(it's free and can be easily found in google). In "sensors" tab of it you can see CPU load, power consumption and total battery capacity, which is designed to be ~6.250Wh(it's strange, but for this laptop software shows ten times lesser power consumption/capacities, than it actually is). If it's much lesser after full charge, then something with battery is wrong.

You asked in my post about the battery life on my Y570, today i did a test with half the battery (around 47%-49% charge) since i forgot to charge it.
I burned two DVD´s, downloaded assets for a project, and used Photoshop, i was able to use it for around 2 hours 10 min before it got to 10% which said that i had 45 more minutes to keep using it.
I have turned off: Nvidia GPU, WiFi, and Bluetooth. I also turned down the monitor brightness with Energy Star.
P.S: My model is the Y570 I5
