Y570 - Game (Minecraft) lags when playing

I think it will still lag, because this laptop should be able to run minecraft without it dropping me to 5fps every time.

Just try it. I do think the temps with 50% CPU power will keep the temps to around 80 and that shouldn't make the CPU drop down to 5% power or 800 MHz which causes your lag. The CPU goes limp when temps rise above 86 degrees.

You want to avoid the system hitting 100 degrees.

You can either:
a) Run with the CPU uncapped and have 100+ FPS 80% of the time, and 5 FPS 20% of the time when it's throttling.
b) Run with the CPU capped to 60-80% and have 60-80 FPS 100% of the time.
c) Or take the effort to clean out the fan and repaste so you don't overheat in the first place.

I've been trying to figure out these settings for the life of me..

some people say 99% stops turbo boost... who the hell knows.. nobody knows anything about the min and max settings here...

they also say it parks your cores or something like that turning it to 99%.. i'm trying it.. but i can't tell the difference..

ok i think the solution is

Intel XTU

download it.. and undervold -50  and/or change multipliers to lower .... should stop the overheating..

make sure you google and read everything before totally DESTROYING your computer with this ok..
