Re: Y570 can't access BIOS - PXE-E61 media test failure

Not sure if you were able to remove/re-seat the bios battery but that may be the solution. Before, you can try "hard reset" by following these steps below, it may work:

- Remove the battery

- Unplug the adapter

- Press power button for around 30-40 seconds ( hold )

Re: Y570 can't access BIOS - PXE-E61 media test failure

Regarding the second option, my battery is dead, it has been dead for over a year. I don't even have it plugged to the laptop itself. I tried this, to no avail.

I haven't tried removing/re-seating the BIOS battery, I should try doing that!

Re: Y570 can't access BIOS - PXE-E61 media test failure

This is becomming mission impossible :-(

I'm following a video to dissasemble the machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tE_i91q5vw

But I'm stuck with removing these four screws, they don't want to move :-(

You may want to check this one :

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/ll04_en/thread-id/48888/page/1

You don't need to disamble all the parts, just try to find the CMOS cable, re-seat it ( do it on your own risk )

The machine is fully disassembled right now :-)

It either works when I reassemble, or this thing goes straight into the bin!

Re: Y570 can't access BIOS - PXE-E61 media test failure

This is by far the most troublesome troubleshooting I've ever had.

I dissembled the machine, the battery was soldiered on. I "removed it", unpowered, powered back on. Soldiered it back in its place.

Re-assembled.

And the issue persists, not able to access the BIOS.

I have to be missing something but I can't figure it out

Remove the keyboard and check if you'd have the same error message

Re: Y570 can't access BIOS - PXE-E61 media test failure

Instead I've plugged in a USB keyboard, which I know works as the machine "beeps" if I'm pressing constantly.

I managed to borrow a working battery for the laptop from a relative who has the same model, in case it had anything to do with not having one.

Nothing yet

I still believe that you're forgetting to tell what you have done ( or someone else ) to the computer. I don't want to answer as usual but it points out that it's a mainboard issue

Re: Y570 can't access BIOS - PXE-E61 media test failure

I had the same issue, and I SOLVED it!

Because my boot mode was on Legacy (for the old HDD), the new SSD wasn't recognized, and I got the same message as in the post description.

Way to solve it:

1. Put back your HDD, since you can't acces BIOS

2. Enter BIOS, navigate to Boot setup

3. change Boot mode from Legact to UEFI.

4. Save and turn off the system, and replace the HDD with the SSD

5. Voila!
