Y580 Graphics problem

2016-10-22, 11:47 AM

I' ve been experiencing problems with graphics in my Y580 laptop ( i7 3630QM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M 2GB, 8GB RAM ) for about 3 months now ( bought it 3 years ago ). GPU, after reaching about 75 degrees, freezes showing errors:

This errors occur with games - CS:GO and applications - 3DMark.

So far i tried:

-using different nvidia settings

-installing different OS ( WIN 7, 8.1, 10 )

-upgrading and downgrading drivers ( i' ve noticed that driver versions below 350 are forcing BSODs Dmp, and versions above 350 are giving errors i mentioned earlier)

Is my GPU dying? Or maybe it's motherboard fault?

As you say only when it gets hot. I so then its a heat issue mostly. The heat sink may not be adeqate now or your cooling tunnel is plugged with dust.

New heat sink sealant may be needed. I don't know the innards but I'd let a notebook tech do the work of taking it apart etc.
