I'm wondering if anyone can help me please?
I recently bought myself a new Lenovo Y580 which came with Windows 8 pre-installed.
I hated Windows 8, so wiped the hard drive completely of all partitions, installed an SSD and installed Windows 7 on that, using drivers available from the Lenovo website.
I now have a very irritating problem in that the laptop won't obtain an IP using DHCP, on either the wired LAN or the wireless LAN.
I have to specify an IP manually for it to connect.
All other devices on the network are allocated IPs with no issues.
What could be causing this?
I've searched these forums and the only solution I've found is someone saying that they'd accidentally enabled flight mode, and it worked when this was switched off. Unfortunately that's not the problem here, as flight mode is definitely off.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestion, but in the interim period I've managed to resolve this...
I started Windows in safe mode with networking, opened the network adapter properties page, selected 'obtain IP address automatically' and it connected!
When I restarted in 'normal' mode, the connection worked as it should. Not entirely sure why, bit I'm happy!
