Y580: Screw size that secures wireless adapter and mSata SSD ?

2012-09-28, 15:50 PM

I bought a Y580 without the SSD / RapidDrive, and then added my own larger 128GB mSata SSD and did a clean install of Windows to it.  Its my boot and system drive, and then the conventional HD has all my user files and libraries.   It’s great.

One small issue:  Because it did not come with the mSata SSD, I don’t have the little screw that secures the SSD down.  It is the same screw size that secures the wireless adapter (which for now I borrowed, and used a piece of electrical tape for the wireless adapter.)

Does anyone have a parts explosion diagram, or service manual, or just happen to know the exact size of this screw, so I can try to buy one.  I took the little screw to local hardware store, but they don’t have it.  If I knew exact size, I could likely find it online somewhere.

Thank you.

on computer shops will have this screw.

also, if you have an old laptop, sometimes you will find that the pci card has 2 of these screws, and you can just rip one off.

it's 2 x 3mm. you can just call shops for this size
