Y580 - should there be SSD?

Hello,

last year I bought Lenovo Y580, model name 20132.
Then I had some issues with harddrive, so i put it to service... and after servicing it now works pretty well.

What I am wondering is, if the laptop should have in default configuration SSD dics or not. I found that some Y580's got it, some not. And I cant remember, if I bought it with SSD, or not.

Can you please help me, if my Y580 - 20132 should have SSD disc?
Because, when I look into device manager, I cant find it in harddrivers - ive got there only Seagate 1TB and Samsung CD-ROM.

Thank you,
Martin

Hello,

it's 59352094.
It was purchased via local store, not from Lenovo directly.

Re: Y580 - should there be SSD?

hi 0x,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Based on your Model type number, Yeah the system should have a 16GB SSD, a NGFF M.2 SSD Card.

Can you try,

   Running an Administrator CMD

      type in Diskpart

          then type List disk,

Check how many disk shows up.

Re: Y580 - should there be SSD?

Ah well, there is Disk 0 with status Online and size 22GB (2048KB free) and 1TB disc. So it looks like SSD disk is inside, but im wondering, why I cant see it in device manager or somewhere else..

Re: Y580 - should there be SSD?

Small SSDs in laptops are usually used as a cache, not a real drive. It's called Intel Rapid Storage. You can reconfigure it to use it as a separate drive. Mine came without a SSD, so I bought one (128GB) and put it in, and installed OS on it.

PS. the SSD slot in Y580 is mSATA, not M.2/NGFF
