Re: Y650 virtualization (Intel VT) [SOLVED]

If vitrualization works OK, then you don't need to change anything.

Let me explain. BIOS (v1.04) turns ON hardware virtualization only if both the 0372 and 0375 are not zeros. It seems that 0372 is not zero on your Y650 by default. Therefore you had to change only 0375 to turn on VT.

But some owners of Y550 wrote me that they had been forced to change both variables to activate VT because on their Y550 both 0372 and 0375 are zeros by default. That is why I wrote about changing of two variables in my guide.

Re: Y650 virtualization (Intel VT) [SOLVED]

I wasn't sure if 0372/0375 were co-dependent or not.  I also wanted to make sure that I posted my experience as it seemed to differ from what others have posted (thus far).  Makes it easier on those that come after me looking for help or insight. Smiley Happy

Thanks again for your original post and ongoing help!

New y650 bios

I updated last week to the new official y650 bios (2.0.8) - that at long last adds the possibility to silence the low-battery beep sound.

Any ideas if this version can be patched for VT?

Re: New y650 bios

Y650 has absolutely the same BIOS as Y550. If your CPU really supports Intel VT, then read this.

Re: New y650 bios

Has anyone tried the procedure with the new BIOS v2.08? I had to add the line 0378. Also, the guide doesnt mention where we should save vt.txt and I noticed that it is being saved in my flash drive. I've repeated the procedure three times but to no avail. How will I know if VT has been enabled? Do I get an option in the BIOS Setup?

Thanks
