Y70 50 trackpad buttons have to be pressed very hard

2016-10-04, 13:36 PM

Hello,

I have a Y50 70 with trackpad buttons that have to be pressed very hard in order to get them to register. Does anyone have any advice about how I might fix this?

Cheers

Hi Dangerous_Dave ,

Greetings.

It would be best to have it called in technical support for a mechanical button issue for the touchpad as dissassembly would take the entire machine to inspect the upper case that includes the touchpad.

Checking for possible obstruction or misaligned parts can be one of the issue as you can use the hardware manual and service training guide for the disassembly steps.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

I've got into the machine no problem - the touchpad buttons seem to pivot around a small circular clicker at the centre, and a metal bar that sits underneath that. I can't find anything obvious wrong with it, but I don't actually know how it works - in particular, I don't know if the buttons activate using the clicker, or if that just provides a clicking sensation and the buttons work e.g. by entering the recesses in the metal bar.

Do you know how the trackpad buttons function?

Hi Dangerous_Dave ,

Greetings.

Afaik your touchpad buttons works as a contact clicker to the touchpad board .

As it feels normal when pressed (doing it multiple times standing position as if to allow gravity to loosen within the circular contact part) , using air can to blow out possible particles within.

Test the buttons from the Novo Menu OKR instead of within Windows to isolate sensitivity issue.

Regards

**edit notes: touchpad buttons should work on system recovery option on the Novo Menu for testing by clicking left touchpad button to accept entry, this is only for testing and caution not to proceed with initial backup as it would delete the current image instead to test it on user backup, (cancel or restart manual after test).
