Bought the Y70-70 touch lenovo in US a year back and activated Windows 8.1 in the US, but about 2 months back in India, the unit is prompting for Windows 8.1 to be activated. Called Microsoft support in India but the Installation ID is not opening up as it is OEM model and I do not know the Windows product key except for the last five digits- W4243. India Lenovo says support unavailable here but to contact US lenovo for help. Can any one help how I could re-activate the Windows 8.1 on my Y70-70 laptop.

Can you verify wireless access to the internet ?
Else can you use the ethernet port (item 3 page 63) for an RJ45 cable to directly connect to the router and check for windows update , and restart. Check properties ( OEM version is identifiable) and proceed for online activation if needed.
If installation ID is re-identified proceed to phone activation if needed.
Product activation checks that the product key has not been used on more personal computers than are permitted by the Microsoft Software License Terms. You can activate your product either over the Internet or by telephone. If you activate a product by telephone, you provide an installation ID code. In return, you receive a confirmation ID number. A Microsoft customer service representative activates the product by telephone. This process takes several minutes. If you want to activate your product over the Internet, the process is performed automatically. The only information that you must provide is the name of your country and your region.
As it suppose to have OEM version on the system property to have an embedded product key for activation , try using this application to identify systemboard key and current installed key if matches.
Update us how it is on showkeyplus (screenshot) and if you have an error code.

Hey Spidey 101,
Thanks for the reply, but the wireless is not being recognized and it is not connecting to the Internet through wireless.
Pairing of a smartphone to use internet via phone is also not possible as it is not pairing.
Will try the application "showkeyplus", have downloaded it on another PC and will try to copy it to the Y70-70 Lenovo.
As for the RJ45 cable through ethernet port, I've to acquire internet connection by that means as I'm subscribed to a pre-paid internet dongle by the data service provider.
