Y700-15ISK FN key reversed, how to fix?

2019-11-16, 1:09 AM

I got this Ideapad Y700-15ISK and while using it I must have done something there reversed the functionality of the FN key as I now need to hold down FN to use normal keys. Example my arrow keys now turn up/down the light without FN and works like normal when FN is pressed

This is really annoying to use as it happens to all keys on the keyboard.

Anyone know how to fix this so it become normal again?

Hi !

Here are the steps on how you can configure the function keys to not require use of the Fn key:

  1. Access the BIOS (method to enter BIOS in Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10).
  2. Once in the BIOS menu, select the Configuration tab.
  3. Select Hotkey Mode and set to Disabled.
  4. Save and Exit the BIOS menu (press F10 and then Enter).

Update us on how it will go through. Regards.

Hi.

I have exactly the same since the same date you have. It must be from a automaticly windows update. Plus i cant find any solution for it and its really strange because the directional keys are as well fn-locked. Hope to find a solution soon since my laptop goes into sleep a lot of times because of F1

You'll need to save and exit the BIOS menu to see the result. It'll work fine.

I had this problem on my Ideapad Y700 this morning. My Hotkeys were already disabled. So this wasn't the solution.

The Fix - I 'Enabled' hotkeys in BIOS, and it has worked.

So please try this if you are having difficulties.

This was also the FIX for me

I was doing a wipe of a Y700 15isk and at some point the FN keys began behaving as though they were stuck on.

BIOS > ENABLE hotkeys set it to normal expected behavior...despite it seeming BACKWARDS in bios

Good fix!
