Y700-15ISK - Laptop Freezes

I have a Y700-15ISK.  I like the computer however, it freezes frequently and I have to do a hard shutdown.  I am using Windows 10, I've done all the diagnostics I can find with no luck.  The computer usually freezes when I am using Microsoft edge with the Adobe Flash and haven't been find anything on this either.  Any help would be much appreciated!!

Re: Y700-15ISK - Laptop Freezes

Hello,

    I did try to update the bios according to the instructions however what I could catch(flashed too fast to read it all) said "cannot run RSDP structure".  I couldn't catch anything else.  I went to the support website and found another bios update and that one did not work either but could not catch what was wrong there.  Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Y700-15ISK - Laptop Freezes

Hi ipholt  ,

Greetings.

From previous BIOS update here in this discussion , a recent release CDCN35WW 8/17/2016 is now made available .

Before flashing the BIOS :

Please check the BIOS version of your machine first before flashing the latest BIOS. Following different ways to check BIOS version in System Information windows.

  • Windows 10: Input msinfo32 in Cotana (start search box) and press Enter key
  • Windows 7: Open Run box by pressing Win+R, input msinfo32 and press Enter key

If BIOS version is older than V30, please update to v35 firstly, and then update to V37 or above version;

If BIOS version is above V30, you can update it to the latest version directly.

Regards

Re: Y700-15ISK - Laptop Freezes

Hi ipholt  ,

At this point I would definitely recommend that you back up your data and call in technical support informing them that diagnostics passed and that latest BIOS as indicated per procedure :

If BIOS version is older than V30, please update to v35 firstly, and then update toV37 or above version;

If BIOS version is above V30, you can update it to the latest version directly.
