Z400 touch, no ethernet wifi works fine.

2013-07-21, 10:51 AM

I cannot get my Z400s ethernet to work, the wifi works fine but when I insert an ethernet  cable it doesn't read it at all. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue as of right now.

-Thanks Josh.

Hi

Welcome to the forums:smileywink:

Could you first mention the os?

If you haven't tried, could you try reinstalling the ethernet drivers. You can download them from here or install them from the d drive.

Also if it does't fixes the issue, could you open the device manager and check if there is any unknow device or a device with a yellow triangle on the icon of any of the network device? i mean is there a ethernet driver installed.

Also, check the ethernet cable, it might be at fault too. Try with another cable too.

I'm currently on Windows 8 64bit. The cable works fine as I tested it on my desktop. I just tried reinstalling the driver and had no luck either. Also I didn't see any yellow triangles under my device manager.

-Thanks Josh

Can you see your ethernet device in the device manager? See under network adapters.

Nope, I only see the Wireless N and Bluetooth listed. I do not see a Ethernet listed.

Hi
This seems to me as a hardware defect.
You can try a factory reset(one key recovery) if you want but it may not work.
I suggest you take your laptop to lenovo service center. They will check your laptop and see what needs to be done.

Based on what is being displayed, there is Wlan but no lan.

Can you boot in safemode and repeat what you can see? Are there yellow exclamation marks?
