Z50-70 Charger went pop

Hello

The charger on my Z50-70 went pop at the charging point on my laptop. The laptop then died and shows no sign of life. No lights nothing. Is it worth getting a new charger or has it caused inturnal damage?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Z50-70 Charger went pop

Hi rcrmgs,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It would be better if you voltage check the charger first as shown in the hardware manual (page21).

CHECK AC.PNG

Since this is a power issue I still suggest have it checked in a service center.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Re: Z50-70 Charger went pop

Thanks for the reply. But need to know if the charger going pop and laptop going off..... Has the charger caused damage to the laptop? If so would it be an easy fix?Replacing the charger is not a problem but not sure if it would be a waste of time because the charger has blown the motherboard or something.

Cheers.

Re: Z50-70 Charger went pop

Hi rcrmgs,

How was it checking the ac charger voltage as directed above?

Would the laptop still power on without the charger? Any battery led flashing?

We do not really know which has caused it unless you have a certified technican check on the laptop internally. Isolating the source of issue would be insufficient with just physical inspection or with the pop without mapping things onboard  by board level technicians.

Regards
