I'v just bought a lenovo z50-70 laptop today and installed windows 8.1 on it
I installed all drivers on it's dvd include intel and nvidia graphics driver.
Unfortunately my windows just recognize intel graphic but when I check nvidia control panel and device manager both graphics card installed completely right. so I can't play any game /and I did everything include:
1- I downloaded latest graphic drivers from my model support lenovo webpage
2- I updated my bios to latest version
3- I downloaded latest driver from intel and nvidia too!
4- I selected discrete in graphic option in bios setting
5- in nvidia control panel I selected high performance nvidia processor and no difference.
there are some pics that show my situation
and as you can see this program can show my 4 gig nvidia graphic.
Pls help. Ty in advance

I have this issue too, the answer from lenovo help sounds like horse**bleep** to me. The link above this reply doesn't seem to be quite right either. I ran that program and it is correctly reporting the amount of dedicated RAM that the card has, it just that it also reports a microsoft basic display adaptor that steadfastly refuses to bugger off. Anybody managed to disable it/turn it off? And if not has anyone formatted and started from scratch to see if this solves the problem?

Could you please detail your issue?
Is your graphic card displayed in NVIDIA control panel and Device Manager?
Are youy able to play any games? Which games have you tried?
Do you have any software monitoring your CPU and GPU activity?

By default the graphic cards used by computer are switched automatically, depend of application to run (check Device Manager if there are installed correctly as rockykoston asked you). You can check and change this for each application in NVidia Control Panel - 3D settings.
Also you can run each application with right click on it and choose the prefered graphic card.
Current system: IdeaPad Z50-70, i7 4510U, DDR3 16GB, SSD 128GB, SSHD 1TB+8GB, nVidia GT 840M 4GB.

Go to Device manager - Display Adapters and uninstall NVidia driver.
Download the driver from here:
and install it with option "Clean install" to ensure that the old drivers and their remnants are removed to install the new driver without any conflicts, restart your computer. You can update the driver after, automatically or manually.
You must make sure that the Chipset driver and Intel video card driver was installed BEFORE NVidia.
