Z50-70 starting up issue

My Z50-70 has a big startup issue. After I click power up I don't see loading screen or even any light on screen. Only 2 white leds on casing are lighting, fan is working and CPU is heating up, but startup process is stuck. This last for a long time and finally procs. Loading screen shows up and computer is normally starting. It's very uncomfortable, because this state can last around half an hour or even more. At this time when I plug on/off power supply, there is an alarm beep. The same beep I can hear when I press any button on keyboard just before it procs up.

I don't know what I should do. Tried with changing RAM or reset CMOS, but without any effect. Please help me.

Re: Z50-70 starting up issue

Hi Kimortal,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You should take the opportunity to back up your files first.

Try removing the harddrive and check if you would be able to have the BIOS show up faster. Use the novo button to turn it on and observe. This would at least isolate booting issue from a No POST (power on self test) issue.

Reapply thermal paste and clean up the fan system specially if you have tried a known good ram on each slot and charger. Then, it can be an issue with the systemboard, CPU, graphics chip etc.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Z50-70 starting up issue

Thank You for answer.

I've tried to turn it on without hard drive or even without RAMs but didn't notice any difference (thought there would be long beep because of no rams). Tried with novo button and wait for an hour, and then I lost my patience. I think that won't be reasoned by POST.

Tomorrow I will change thermal paste, but I doubt it will give anything because during the stuck CPU admittedly works and slightly heats up, but for sure doesn't reach as temperature as while it works hard when it's on.

At this time I couldn't do detailed researches about periods of startup with different configurations, because independently of setup changes sometimes it procs after 5 minutes and sometimes i have to wait around an hour. One time I've turned it on and left and it hasn't started even after 2 hours. This periods are too randomly for fast finding out differences.
But if these details would give any clue I will check them up.
