Z50-75 Freezes after unplugging from power outlet

2014-11-03, 21:56 PM

Hey all, I'm having an issue where my lappy completely freezes up when it is on battery power. It will boot off of battery fine, and I can click to the desktop, but then all icons become unclickable and all keys/input functions cease to work, and after about 30 seconds, the mouse won't move anymore. If it is on and then unplugged, it instantly freezes.

I checked and I have the most up-to-date bios and drivers. I'm a bit perplexed as I've never run across an issue like this before. Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

I also had this problem. It occurred when using the original amd catalyst drivers. Switching back to Lenovo display drivers fixed it for me.

Pretty simpel.

1) Uninstall the ATI/AMD Catalyst from "Program and Features" inside the control Panel.

2) Download the Lenovo Catalyst ("AMD Video Driver") from http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-z-series-laptops/lenovo-z50-75 .Be sure to select the correct Operating System (i.e. Windows 8.1)!

3) Install the Lenovo driver and you are done.

yes, that'S the correct driver if you have win 8.1.

A full factory reset (like you did last night) should also revert back to the original lenovo drivers but i would have gone for the easy way of switching video drivers ; -)
