Z50 doesn't detect second monitor on HDMi

I've recently purchased the Lenovo Z50 - 70 with 16 gb ram and nvidia 840m video card.

Today I tried to connect the laptop to my LG 47LA6208-ZA, but the laptop doesn't recognize a second monitor. When I try to detect other monitors nothing is found.

I am sure there is no problem with the tv or the hdmi cable, cause another pc with same hdmi cable on same hdmi port works perfectly.

Any ideas what can be the problem here? I've allready updated all the drivers.

However, i'm not sure on what video card the hdmi port is on, the nvidia, or the onboard intel.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Z50 doesn't detect second monitor on HDMi

Dear Nicken,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Please try to connect the HDMI and press Windows key + P >> Choose Duplicate.

- The HDMI is on the onboard intel.

Regards,

Joseph

Re: Z50 doesn't detect second monitor on HDMi

I wish it was this simple Smiley Happy.

I know how to use a hmdi under normal circumstances, however, here the normal situation doesn't work...

I keep getting the no signal message on the hdmi input on tv (and yes, source is set on correct hdmi port.)

Dear Nicken,

Please try to

1- open Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution.

2- Press Detect, then Click on Display, and check if the laptop detect the second screen or not.

Regards,

Joseph

It doesn not detect a second screen. I'm pretty sure there is no problem with hdmi cable or hmdi port on tv, cause no problem with other pc and same cable.

Re: Z50 doesn't detect second monitor on HDMi

Dear Nicken,

My advice to you right now, please try to install windows 8.1, and lets see if this will solve the issue or not.

And you can use the below link for the drivers

Re: Z50 doesn't detect second monitor on HDMi

That really doesn't seem like a solution...

I've buyed this laptop in knowledge it gives windows 10 support. If I can't use it's full potential on windows 10 I will ask for a refund. I was happy about this laptop, untill now... I aspected a little more from a 900 € laptop.

Anyway, thx for the support.

Re: Z50 doesn't detect second monitor on HDMi

Turns out that the hdmi cable was the problem after all!! What is really strange, cause it gives no problems with the other pc. However, I'm very glad it is solved! Thanks for the support!
