Z500: suitable external microphone type

Hi

I've got this problem: both internal and external microphone produde terrible backgroung noise in recordings. (Settings:  "listen to this device" is off, microphone boost is down.) I use a condenser external microphone. Can this be the cause? I need a really clean recording which unfortunately I can't do with this new notebook (while with my 8 years old, terrible slow Siemens, it works all right).

Which type of external microphone should I use to create a clean recording?

Thanks k.

Re: Z500: suitable external microphone type

Referring to page 9 of the user's guide:

Notes:
• The combo audio jack does not support conventional microphones.
• The recording function may not be supported if third-party headphones or headsets are connected, due to different industry standards.

Based on the above, The Lenovo headphone or headset with in-line microphone might work with the 1/8 " combo audio jack of the unit.
