(Z510) Dolby Home Theatre on Windows 8.1 - HOW?

2014-09-18, 19:26 PM

Hello,

Is there any way that I can use the good old Dolby Home Theatre on Win 8.1 Pro 64bit? Even when I try and install the old driver from the CD I get Dolby Digital installed, which is extremely ugly, buggy and totally lacks functionality. Not to mention that it doesn't work with Firefox (doesn't detect sound at all). When using it with a music player like Winamp or AIMP3, it's impossible to set custom EQ. When moving the sliders they just get back to their previous position.

How to get rid of it and get Dolby Home Theatre back?

You can try uninstalling it and erasing the installation folder. Then install the old one.

Already tried that. Didn't help. As soon as I install the driver from the CD, the new Dolby Digital Plus appears in the Control Panel.

Don't use the cd but download the old version from Lenovo's site.

Won't make any difference, but I'll give it a try. The driver I'm trying to install is an old version with the DHT V4 and it used to be working just fine, until I decided to update it.

Then you can try using windows restore to go back to the old but working version.

Don't have such old restore points. Plus it would remove most of my installed apps (most of them I don't even remember where I got them from).

By the way, I can't find any old drivers at lenovo.com

Sorry, I can't help you further regarding the old drivers since you have not provided any info regarding your unit.

It's Z510 with Realtek HD Audio sound card. Running on Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit. Current driver version 6.0.1.6954 from 25.6.2013

Don't know what other info you might need.

Sorry. Referring to the download site I think there is only one driver available. So no old driver available.
