Z510 Wireless Problem

Hi

Lenovo Z510
Windows 7
Wi-Fi disconnects periodically.

Tested driver Solutions:

  • Lenovo Website's Z510 Drivers for Windows 7 (here)
  • Intel's Driver (here)
  • Windows 7 auto detection

None of them solves the problem.

Does anybody have the same issue?
Is it about Win 7 ? and Win 8 or 8.1 will be OK ? (I didn't use the 8 for a considerable time)

Any suggestions?

Any supporting advice from Lenovo?

Re: Z510 Wireless Problem

Try Lenovo's solution here:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT070623

Also, while your laptop is connected, does your connection speed drop to 11 Mbps for awhile and stays there until you reset the adapter?

Re: Z510 Wireless Problem

Aside from the suggestion of Cbautis2, you can try installing the software and driver version 16.7 from Intel site.

Re: Z510 Wireless Problem

Thank you guys Smiley Happy

cbautis2 , I tried that. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problem. But thanks; I didn't know about this option.

P.S. and dude, here is Iran! the fastest ordinary user bandwidth that I HEARD OF here is 1 Mbps; mine is 256 kbps. and I feel no sudden speed drop; it just disconnects from the Internet (not the Wi-Fi modem network)

LenBlazer I installed the latest driver too; it didn't solve it either. BUT after a while, I tried the file with BOTH DRIVER & THE SOFTWARE (The one that takes control of Wi-Fi over the built-in Windows Wi-Fi control) and now it's so much better. but the problem still persists some times and Windows troubleshooter states that:

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Network Diagnostics

The remote device or resource won't accept the connection Detected
Contact your network administrator Completed

The remote device or resource won't accept the connection Detected
The device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not set up to accept
connections on port "The World Wide Web service (HTTP)".

Contact your network administrator Completed
The computer or device you are trying to reach is available, but it doesn’t
support what you’re trying to do. This might be a configuration issue or a
limitation of the device.

I don't know what to do now. Does it put a light on the problem? Any Suggestions?

Thanks in advance :]

Re: Z510 Wireless Problem

Bumping an old thread, but I'm having exactly the same problem. Also I always have the "!" on my wireless connection (it says "No internet connection" even tho I do have internet connection).

Before downgrading to WIndows 7 Ultimate 64bit, I was running on Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit and I had no problems at all. So I'm guessing that the driver is bad. I see that it hasn't been updated since 30 october 2013. Is Lenovo ignoring the issue???

Going back to Win 8 is NOT an option... Worst OS EVER!

Re: Z510 Wireless Problem

@Nine

Already tried these and none of them worked.

By the way, wouldn't it be easier for all of us if you guys just pick one Z510, run Win 7 on it and inspect the issue for yourselves instead of just guessing? Obviously it's not a settings problem but more like a faulty driver.

Re: Z510 Wireless Problem

Thanks, but like I said, I didn't have any problems with Win 8. The problem appears under Win 7.
