Re: Z580 - Battery plugged in but not charging

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing,

You may want to try below different methods and check which one work for you.

Method A:

  1. Remove the AC and Battery from the laptop
  2. Press and hold the power button for 30 to 40 seconds
  3. Replace the battery and AC
  4. Boot the laptop up and check if the same message is still displaying
  5. If same error still persist, try to uninstall Lenovo Energy Management, reboot then install the Energy Management software again.

Method B:

1.Open Lenovo Energy Management

2.Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.

3.Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset. (refer to Fig. 1 below)

4.That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle.

Method C:

1.Open Lenovo Energy Management

2.Click on the bottom gear icon between i and ?.

3.Under Battery Health, choose "Optimize For Battery Runtime" instead of "Optimize for Battery Lifespan".

Note: The latter option will extend the lifespan of battery by limiting the charging capacity to be between 0-80%.

Re: Z580 - Battery plugged in but not charging

Method A seems to have worked for me... I had tried removing the battery but I hadn't tried holding down the power button...

hopefully it doesn't happen again....

Re: Z580 - Battery plugged in but not charging

Please help! Yesterday while in service my battery was at 2%, I didn't have my charger so I just closed it. This morning I plugged it up & it wouldn't turn on! Ok So now I'm freaking out because my job is on this laptop. I've tried the hard restart but it still hasn't come on. Should I keep trying this? I have it plugged up but the little red battery light keeps blinking.

The warranty expired Dec 2013 so now I don't know what else to do. Should I keep trying the trick you mentioned in your post? Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. We are a very small church and ALL our information, important documents, QuickBooks and member contributions are on here. I don't know what else to do but cry if I can't get it to work.
