I have a Z580 and it was working fine until yesterday. My mic does not work with the Realtek drivers anymore. I've isolated the problem and I am pretty sure the issue is from the Realtek drivers. However I need the Realtek driver for Dolby V4 to work.
Here's a break down of my problem.
Realtek Hd settings does detect my mic however it only registers a sound when I click the remote.( I use a headphones with remote and mic)
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers but that did not help.
I completely removed Realtek Hd settings and the mic started working flawlessly again.
Can anyone help me?

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Before i suggest to do a complete uninstall of you Audio driver can you share if this folder is available on your computer,
Open your Drive "C:" under My Computer then go to
/Realtek Audio Driver
And inside PCEE4 there should be a Dolby home theater v4

1. Make sure to un-install the Audio driver first under Device Manager
> Open device Manager
> Go to sound, video and game controllers
> Look for Realtek High Definition Audio or High Definition Audio
> Right click on it and select uninstall put a check on Delete the driver software for this device
2. Check you Control Panel / Programs and feature / Uninstall a program list for any Realtek Audio.
If there is one uninstall it as well
If non then just proceed to the next step,
3. Still under Control Panel Uninstall the Dolby Home theater
If non proceed to the next step.
4. Delete the Realtek Audio Driver Folder the one you showed to me. thats under:
C:/drivers/Realtek Audio Driver(this one)
5. Now Download and install this
Windows 8 Driver
6. After the installation go back to
C:/drivers/ Realtek Audio Driver "this should be back after step5"
go an look for the PCEE4 folder and install the Dolby home theater.msi
After That everything should work Fine
Let me know if you encountered anything
Hope this helps

The photo you posted,
Under sound properties and under Recording tab
Right-click on the
Realtek High Definition Audio
Then select Set as default device
See if this works,

I set it as default and it does the same thing.
It only records when I click the remote buttons, it doesn't record any other sound which is really weird because the mic works fine when I unistalled the realtek audio drivers.

Can We try to do a Manual Installation of the driver,
Again Uninstall the Realtek Audio and DOLBY Home theater under Control panel / Programs and features,
Go to Device manager and you should fine a High Definition Audio as your Driver,
right-click on it and click Update driver software,
It will give you two options,
Search automatically and Browse my computer,
Choose Browse my computer for driver
You will have a box with a browse option click on it to give you a destination menu,
Here we will direct it to your (C:/drivers/Realtek Audio Driver folder) then hit ok,
it should close the destination menu box and back to the update driver menu hit next.
This will manually install the realtek driver for the Dolby.
see if the external mic works with this kind of installation
if yes Go and proceed installing the Dolby home theater.
By the way the z580 has separate ports for Mic and earphones right?
are you using same connection or are you using a combo earphone and mic with just one plug?
