I have a 3 1/2 year old Ideapad Z580 which will not start.
It was left for a short period (not unusual), I came back and it was completely dead. I assumed the power cable must have come out of the adapter and check all connections.
Power adapter works (powers 7 runs another laptop). However, no sign of life on the Z580. No light, no sound, no response whatsoever.
I tried the pushing power button trick to discharge static etc. Left it completely unplugged & batter removed, but nothing.
Is there anything to try or is it new machine time?

Hi phill2000 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Since you already went thru the power checkout ( page 20-21) , you may try powering the laptop using the Novo Button / One Key Recovery ( Item6 page 81 ) to turn on to isolate if the power button is the issue.
Else you can have it check for systemboard and Power board troubleshooting with local service center but if you have the tools and skill , follow the manual guide to open and look for and power port issue (bent pins / burnt marks) , Issue may be with the power port or power board otherwise the complete motherboard .
Update us how it goes.

Thanks for that.
Battery giving 11.56v
One key recovery non responsive.
I have been very **bleep** / OCD re the connector & centre pin etc. (actually one of the reasons for buying this type). There is no external appearance of a problem, and from past experience, the 'waggle' whilst it is plugged in has made no lights flicker.
I'll pull it apart tomorrow but I'm sensing a power circuit / motherboard failure.
Not sure on cost viability on repair.
