funky y500 touchpad drivers

2013-05-06, 19:45 PM

ok so my laptop was one of the junk ones lenovo shipped out in january- after the 6 week wait the touchpad was replaced, however now my system freezes and this error message appears.  I have tried re-installing drivers but to no avail- this is really frustrating and it is appearent it is a cheaply built machine (cd drive bezel is loose and will bind on the case causing the cd drive not to open)

any/ all help is apprecited.  I would also like a replacement blu-ray drive shipped to me  since this is still under warentee.

I'd love to be able to help, unfortunately I don't know your system and like the other volunteer mods am just one of your lowly peers. I certainly hope another member will be able to offer the advice you need.

These communities have been created to provide a high quality atmosphere in which users of Lenovo products and services may share experiences and expertise. While members from Lenovo may participate at intervals to engage in the discussions and offer advice and suggestions, this forum is not designed as a dedicated and staffed support channel.

I'm just wondering why you're still using that notebook that you call "lenovo piece of crap 'machine'"?

don't exactly have another 1k to piss away on a new laptop/ be without one at school- additionally, they had it held up for service for 6 weeks and went past my return time... so all in all just riding this one out until it dies...

yet another 'incident' let alone the 5 restarts I have had to do in the past day (think that was more for win updates that were funky)

But saw the ELAN drivers were still on my machine and unistalled and rebooted- got this message- might try totally uninstalling all the drivers and do a fresh install of the syntaptics drivers if i get this again.

After reciving the message then I get a notice that the touchpad has stopped working (but it really does work) and life goes on...

the elan touchpad has been physically replaced to a synaptics one i hope?

If you dont mind losing multi touch capability, i propose you remove the lenovo pointing device from device manager, reboot the laptop, and continue using an external mouse. the touchpad should still work sans multi touch and gesture support, but i it may not.

if you are busy with school, you may want to hold out using this until the essentials are done. then before sending it in, a full system restore to a previous version may be in order. restore to factory detault is a huge waste of time to get everything back together again.

i am staring at the error message you are looking at, and it makes no friggin sense. its coming across more like a database error rather than a system error.

the first error message you posted makes a wee bit more sense.

anyways, try out the total removal of the device via device manager, as well as intelligent touchpad program as well before that. right now its only a suspision, but one or more of your programs might be causing the lost focus error to be invoked for the above mentioned error. dont take my word for it though.

yes when I was fighting with lenovo for 6 weeks to get my computer repaired, it was in fact, replaced with a synaptics touchpad.  I notieced the elan drivers were still hanging out on the machine so uninstalled those.  To be sure i elimanated more issues, i totally uninstalled the new drivers, and the lenovo touchpad nonsense.  preformed a reboot, and reinstalled the drivers off the website (including the multi touch stuff)  As of last night things seemed ok, but I did do the install and update and went to bed- will know more soon.

Additionally, a slew of widnows updates were pushed (on a restart) so I think one of the causes of the lockups yesterday might have been a half- baked win update... I will let you know how things look later...

Yeah the error messages would make no sense and then a system pop up came up saying xyz touchpad stopped working.

It is my hope that the 2 drivers were not playing nice and this straightens them out.

Naturally i went through the startup programs and made sure nothing too odd was living there, and uninstalled many programs that were bloatware or not used...
