Re: is it my hard drive or i must keep looking(z510)

Hi esysss ,

Greetings.

Clicking noise may be internal structures similar to harddrive or system fan.

Software test can help identify but it would be best to compare the integrity on each using individual test (storage /cpu , graphics) comparing with other test such as this .

Always a good practice to back up your data on a separate location just in case and create your installer as needed.

What I do manually is boot up the machine on a separate USB rescue live media and run the test.

Likewise, slaving the same harddrive on a different machine to test if that would do the same.

If the same harddrive works good on another pc then you can narrow things done to other parts and cleaning the systemfan and reapplying thermal paste if needed ensuring that internal cabling are ok.

On the software side , testing the performance in safe mode , clean boot and even with uninstalled antivirus software can identify points of failure.

Update us how it goes for you.

Regards

Re: is it my hard drive or i must keep looking(z510)

Hi esysss ,

Greetings.

Having a mechanically functional harddrive is always a good news .

It splits the isolation to a half , leaving you with probable softwares that would cause slow performance .

Hope that you have the other test done as indicated on previous reply to check on temperture too but just the same , doing  safe mode and clean boot would help.

Update us how things go.

Re: is it my hard drive or i must keep looking(z510)

Hi esysss ,

Greetings.

Did those clicks (outside Windows) and 2 buzz came out localized in the side right side of the laptop?

Notice that the same location near the power button is also the fan system.

How is the temperature running similar software like speccy.

I would suggest that you do a back up of all your data and likewise create a recovery media .

Creating recovery media from current Windows installation  guide here for safe keep.

To try a low level scan test using this (trial version is fine). Health and scan error tab would help identify further is harddrive is starting to fail.

What I usually do to isolate faster is just remove the harddrive and boot the machine in a live rescue usb image if another boot harddrive is not available. Cleaning fans and reapplying thermal paste can help.

We may have a different issue here instead of the harddrive.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards

Re: is it my hard drive or i must keep looking(z510)

thanks again for being so pationt with me

you know the 39 sec bios time was the only one that i record a video . other times is 16 sec ....

i saw the mainboard of lenovo z510 and the clicking noise is com from the right side ,  location of the hard drive

after the clean boot , system start's faster (thank you alot).

the heaviest program on windows is Matlab 2016b . after an hour or like that you can feel the hot wind of fan system(left side of the laptop)

.

i have the Hiren’s BootCD and i will test it , but do i have to remove hard drive ? opening my laptop , i think it's not easy and a little mistake will cost me a fortune.

Re: is it my hard drive or i must keep looking(z510)

Hi esysss ,

Greetings.

As clean boot offers essential Windows services only on start up to hasten the process, I would suggest that you call in tech support for inwarranty service or your local service tech for internal cleaning and reapplication of thermal paste to help the machine.

You may not have to remove the internal parts when using hirens as boot can be done on itself using Win XP then running other diagnostics specially with temperature performance check using either speccy or other temperature software specially with the harddrive , GPU and CPU.

Update us how things go.
