lenovo 3000 y500 vista basic one key recovery partition problem

Hi,

I have Lenovo 3000 Y 500 came preinstalled with Windows VISTA Basic. It contains single physical Disk drive of size 120 GB. C:\ with 20 GB. D:\ with 80 GB and remaining hidden partition. I was having problem with C:\ running out of space to install the new programs. So I have incresed the size of C:\ with the space claimed by resizing D:\ using Windows VISTA Disk Management. The One key recovery, which was working until now, stopped working.

When I press One key recovery, it goes through all the usual windows stopping at the last window and throwing

"The hard disk partition is different from the factory preconfigured backup. System Recovery can not be done" before requesting to exit.

What should I do now to make the One key recovery work and bring back my laptop to factory configured settings.

Thanks and regards,

vijay anand natesan.

You need to resize to original sizes.

Re: lenovo 3000 y500 vista basic one key recovery partition problem

I have only increased the size of the C:\.

I have curretly many programs installed and hence the size of my C:\ is greater than 20GB. I dont think it can be resized downwards keeping the current version of windows working. Moreover I fear of loosing the existing working condition laptop with the Windows Vista basic version.

Im not sure whether the size of my C:\ drive was 20 GB earlier. To which size should i bring it down

Will resizing surely help?Cant it be made to work without resizing?

Thanks and regards,

If you touched the hidden partition, you are lost.

That's why you should make a recovery disc set before touching anything.

Re: lenovo 3000 y500 vista basic one key recovery partition problem

Hi,

I have never touched the hidden partition. I have currently 40 GB filled up in C:\. I cannot resize now to 20 GB. Is there any other option to restore my factory image on my laptop?

Thanks and regards,
