This is intel card which i want to use. It requires m.2 2230 slot. Does my motherboard have m.2 2230?

Re: lenovo y50-70 wlan upgrade

Hi klagu,

Greetings.

Similar to this discussion, recommended WLAN upgrade as listed from the hardware manual FRU (item12 page 91).

OEM recommended parts for upgrade:

Part number 20200552 WirelessLan_Intel, Intel 7260 2x2AC+BT PCIE M.2  WLAN V2

Part number 20200418 WirelessLan_Intel, Intel 3160 1x1AC+BT PCIE NGFF WLAN

One of the following, confi gurable by model:
• 11b/g/n, 1x1, Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo adapter, M.2 Card
• 11ac, 1x1, Wi-Fi + BT combo adapter, M.2 Card
• 11ac, 2x2, Wi-Fi + BT combo adapter, support WIDI, M.2 Card
• Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160, 1x1, Wi-Fi + BT combo adapter, M.2 Card,
support WIDI

Checking the specification of INTEL® DUAL BAND WIRELESS-AC 7260  and Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 both would be for an M.2 WLAN 2230 form factor slot intended for the Y50-70 boards.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Re: lenovo y50-70 wlan upgrade

Yes, there is a whitelist that will prevent from using any other wlan card. You have to ask someone to mode your bios. Check this website, they are doing it for free:

Re: lenovo y50-70 wlan upgrade

Mate, is there any risk which as cannot boot up properly aftet bios mod?

My laptop is out of warranty, and the whitelist is blocking me changing and upgrade my rig... if bios mod successful rate is high, no harm to try.

Btw, whitelist only restricts wlan? I can upgrade my storage and memory without worry right?
