Re: lenovo y500 wi-fi serious problem

Having scoured this thread and others, I see that I have/had the same problem. However, by uninstalling the driver for the network card and then restarting, I seemed to have resolved the problem. This may also help you.

Since you have uninstalled the driver then you are just using Windows driver. Is this right? What OS are you using?

It worked better, but then the windows driver failed..just not as hard. However, I found that the intel driver 15.8.0.5 has solved my problem, except that I cannot run bluetooth while my wifi is connected. sigh.

Also: I did simply unintall the driver and then restart, while using windows 8.

This simple step posted by Digitalle worked for my new P500.  I have been trying to find a solution for this exact problem for 2 weeks.  On speedtest.net, I was downloading at 0.33Mbps...!!!!  My 8 year old laptop was downloading at 13Mbps+ on the same network.  So, I knew it was the new machine.  Anyways, it worked for me, and I just tested it at a download speed of over 16Mbps.  Thanks.

Re: lenovo y500 wi-fi serious problem

Hi Lenovo Nine,

I have a Y410p (but it has the same wireless card), and I noticed that sometimes when I power on, the wireless "connect to" doesn't sense any wireless connections, even though I am sitting close to one and I know it's there. Sometimes I just restart the computer and it shows like 6 connections available, sometimes it doesn't. I love my new laptop, but that's one issue that is a little annoying... My computer shipped with Win 8, but I installed it as Win 7 HP. Wireless card is "Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230", d.v is 15.4.1.1. The router is a netgear but there's no issues with it. It happens whenever, and SOMETIMES is fixed when I restart, othertimes it doesn't.

Once the wireless is connected, I DON'T experience however; it works flawlessly from that point, until I shut down the computer. Basically you can say it is either "all or none", perfectly or not at all.

I read someone above ^^ said to go to Device Manager and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", but it didn't help.

Try updating to the latest wifi/proset version 16.1.0.14 here: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/intel%20lan-wan.htm

I've been using it and there are no issues so far.

but we have differing wireless cards, you have Intel Centrino Wireless N-7620, I have N-2230. Furthermore, my issue was with Internet Connection, not Wireless Display... Which part of the link do I click to downlaod? I see they have many different Wireless Adapters listed

On the website, scroll down until you see this picture below. Click on the floppy disk icon to download the drivers. Anyways, the wifi/proset drivers from Intel work with any Wifi cards they released.

Capture.JPG

The website breaks down the drivers for each wifi card with special features. If the wifi card has wimax bundled, you download the proset/wifi software and the wimax software. Likewise, if the wifi card has the bluetooth, you download the proset/wifi and the intel bluetooth drivers. Hope this clears the confusion.

Disabling 802.11n worked for me. Apparrently WEP and WPA-TKIP are not compatible with 802.11n. My router uses wpa-tkip. http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/sb/CS-030709.htm
