Re: lenovo y510p screen upgrade

If a new laptop is selling for $1225 and yours is in excellent condition with some warranty left, then I would say you should be able to sell for more than $800.

I would atleast be looking to get that price. If I would be desperate to sell I would go as low as $700, but no more. It might take some time but if u are patient you should get the price you want to sell for.

Re: lenovo y510p screen upgrade

You can go for the N550JK, seems like a decent laptop with good gaming power.

GTX850M is a better in terms of performance than GT750M.

Example -

Thief - High setting - 850M - 37fps

                                   - 750M - 22fps

Metro Last Light - High Setting - 850M - 44 fps

                                                       - 750M - 24 fps

These are just examples from Notebookcheck.net

Personally, I am not a fan of touchscreen in laptops, so I would recommend matte. It depends on you, Do you think you will be touching the screen a lot? or typing?

Playing games, I dont think you are gonna use the touch, so it all depends what you want from your laptop.

Thanks and do you think the colors will look better on the glossy screen than the matte screen considering the screen is ips? Thanks.

Re: lenovo y510p screen upgrade

Its your laptop, how can I suggest something like that.

Personally, I wouldnt sell my new laptop for that price. Well then again, I am a more price conscious person and hate to make excessive losses.

Re: lenovo y510p screen upgrade

Hey, and do you think i should wait for the ASUS G551 or just buy the N550JK?

It mught come out in like 4 months, but im scared if it would be pricey?

So is the extra wait worth it?

Thanks

Re: lenovo y510p screen upgrade

I understand that the LVDS cable does not have the required bandwidth. So it would not be a straight forward swap.

I would like to change my Y510p screen to a FHD display, but that's for text more than gaming. Remember that higher definition would mean more drain on the GPU, and it isn't the greatest card to begin with. That said, the screen is a dog.
