poor wireless speed ideapad 500

I have brand new p500. win 8 -64. wireless download speed is half of an old laptop with a G adapter card sitting right 

next to it.I downloaded the latest driver for the intel n-2230 from Lenovo still no improvement. Connected to eathernet

wired and got great speed 24mb download. I have check the speed all over the house and also next to win 7 laptop

 with an N adapter card and still get only half the download speed  Generally get 18-22 mb wireless.. this laptop

is 8-12 mb

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

 

Can you try to:

 

1. Change your Wireless Encryption to WPA2-PSK TKIP or AES and do a speed test in every encryption change.

2. Disable WMM / WPS on the router.

3. Open Device Manager > Network Adapters > right click on the Intel Centrino 2230 > choose properties and under the Advanced Tab, set 802.11n Band Channel Width = Auto, Adhoc QoS Mode = Enabled, 802.11n Mode = Enabled.
