So I tried to start my laptop and I got a registry file error. It said that the registry file is missing or corrupt (or somethign to that effect). What can I do to fix this problem? I have to save all of the data on my hardrive. I have a lot of important files on there that I havenot had a chance to back up and losing them is not an option. So, whatever solution anyone has to offere has got to be able to keep all my data in tact. I have an Idea-pad y650. I also need to get it fixed asap. I'm a student and I have project files on there that I really need yesterday. Thanks for the help.

What is the registry error you are receiving?
Generally, this type of error only inhibits the operating system. If you have another PC or notebook that boots, you could remove the hard drive from the notebook and connect to another machine (via USB or enclosure) and recover your files. Afterwards, the hard drive can be placed back in the notebook and Windows can be reloaded.
