Hi al_infor and welcome to the community,

If you are running Lenovo's Energy Management, you can choose optimize for battery lifespan to extend the life of the battery. It sets the charging to stop at 80%.

Hi al_info,

It looks like mine needs to be updated, I think that you have a newer version. I'll update mine just to make sure.

Keeping a battery at 50% should make it last longer than keeping it at 80%.

Dave

Edit:  It seems that the version of Energy Management that's on my driver site is older than the version that's installed on my U160.

Click on the name Energy Management in the pop-up window and see which version you have.

Re: stop charging when plug-in

Hi al_info,

I installed your version of Energy Management from your driver site and it works in my U160.  My old version was 5.4.17.

Once your battery discharges below 50%, clicking best battery health will keep the charge at 50%, which is what is recommended to keep a battery in good health.

If you need to run it on battery, you'll have to click optimize for battery runtime to get it to charge back up to 100%.

It's not as easy as clicking a few keys to get the battery to stop charging, but it is a way to keep the battery from charging while it's just being used on AC.

Plus, the battery should last longer.

Dave
