As per this pdf data sheet, the backlit keyboard is an optional feature of the Z400 Touch and is only available on selected models.
Also, upon powering up the machine, the keyboard will usually light up indicating the backlit feature, otherwise, you may just have a regular keyboard.
I pm'ed you with some information to identify if the model that you have does have a backlit keyboard. Please check your inbox.

I received your pm and upon checking the serial number of your Z400 Touch (model#: 59361316), it doesn't say that it has backlit keyboard

I compared this to a Lenovo U510 that has one:

Also, upon checking this Amazon Link, this model is advertised as having a backlit keyboard but read some reviews who bought the machine says they don't have that backlit feature. Usually, you can spot a keyboard with a backiit feature if there's a "crown" like logo on the space bar and if the keyboard lights up on boot-up.
Things that you can try:
1. Restart the PC and continuously tap Fn+F2 to boot into the BIOS.
2. When you're in, press F9 to reload factory defaults and press F10 to save and exit.
3. Try to dim the lights in your room and observe the keyboard backlights as the computer boots up.
If the above steps doesn't work, I recommend you contact lenovo to report the issue.
