windows 10 upgrade for y40-70 error "Internal Power Error"

I just upgraded my y40-70 laptop to windows 10 and my laptop is giving the error Internal Power Error and restarting.

it seeems that y40-70 is not compatible with Windows 10

I have restored my computer to previous build and it is back safe to windows 8.1

I don't recomend uprading to windows 10 for this model. unless Lenovo have solution to this problem.

Same happened to me with Lenovo y40-80  8.1 > 10.  Sadly I was foolish and didn't make a backup before install and now I'm back to near factory.

same thing here with a y40-70 from argentina....safe mode works!!!! some driver is the problem...

I got the same error and had to reset back to 8.1. I have the y40-80 as well

Repeatedly the same error, even had it during installation. Gonna revert back to 8.1 until they get the problem fixed.

I have a fix for this.  The problem is the AMD Driver.

On another machine! Download these Drivers: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/amd-catalyst-15.7-win10-64bit.exe

1. Boot Into Safe Mode.
2. Open Device Manager, right click on the AMD Radeon R9, left click on Uninstall, check the box to uninstall Drivers, click OK.
3. Then click on Refresh so that it comes back up as a Unknown Display Device, right click on it and Disable it. (This is important! If you skip this step, Windows will install a driver for you and Blue Screen will come right back.)
4. Open Windows Explorer, Delete the C:\AMD Folder.
5. Copy the new Drivers over and reboot the machine. (You will not be able to install these drivers in Safe Mode.)
6. Once you are back into Windows, install the AMD Drivers that you had downloaded on another machine.  (If you do not have another machine, you should be able to download those drivers now.)

That did it for me.

Based on our compatibility list from our support site here -> https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht103535  it seems to me that Y40-70 and Y40-80 should be supported.

I am interested if the video drivers that you are noting here.   Which model system do you have, and after you installed these drivers can you confirm it works without the error?  Can you also confirm that you had the same errror as reported by others on this thread?  I just want to make sure we are defining a common symptom.

I have a Lenovo Y40-70 Model: 20347 .  It has the AMD Radeon R9 M275X discrete graphics card. 

The working driver version on that graphics adapter is v. 15.200.1046.0.

I did have the same "Internal_Power_Error" Blue Screen as defined here.  I first received it during the upgrade process directly after the screen "New apps for the New Windows".  I then received it each time l logged into the machine, whether it is using my Microsoft Profile or a local profile.

I have the same issue under and fix it updating drivers. But now have a lot of licensees expiring messages and no windows software working. Anyone with these issues too?
