Hello, Not long ago I purchased a Lenovo Y500, and used for about three months without much to worry. One day my screen went completely black (like with no signal at all) first though something was broken, but for good luck trying things out connected an external display using the HDMI output and noticed my computer was completely functional, just not outputing info the her screen. Used the One Key Recovery and screen was usable again.
That happened a couple more times. Last of those times, got a friend to install from scratch and using a copy of W8.1 we installed everything without a problem, but the computer keeps sending signal to external screens (with both vga and hdmi) cables but her screen is still black.
Could anyone please provide some pointers as to what should I do to get the laptop screen working again, or should I take it to a workshop and get the screen replaced. Just any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and please forgive my English (not native) and the long message,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your Y500 Laptop is displaying black screen even after performing clean installation and it is working as expected with the external display is connected. This issue seems to be hardware related, I would strongly suggest you to contact our Technical Support for further Assistance to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

Hello Shiv_k, First of all thank you very much for your reply.
I will follow your suggestion, however the fact that after the screen going black a One Key Recovery brough
it back to life, makes me still doubt it's a hardware problem (way too much of a coincidence).
The last time it all happened was after uninstalling McAffee AV, the screen went black, used an external display,
used one key recovery and all back to normal. Would you still suggest it's hardware related ?
We never got to register our copy of W8, the one that came with the laptop, maybe is there something hidden ?
Thanks for taking the time to read this messages, and even more, to write a reply.

There will be a hidden partition in the computer which consists of the OS (Operating System) image which is helpful while restoring the computer to its factory settings, please let me know if the issue persists even after performing OKR (One Key Recovery) in the computer.
Hope to hear back soon
