y470: nVidia Control Panel crash

Hi all, I have a y470, with nVidia GT550M.

Starting from about two weeks ago after I uninstalled PES2012 from my laptop, whenever I visited "manage 3D settings" page in the nVidia control Panel, it crashes and Windows 7 tells me to shut it down. (and the crash report suggests that nvgames.dll is at fault) Hence I cannot assign the programs to the nVidia card. I have tried to open it in safemode, and I have tried a "clean" re-install and even installed the new (beta) version of driver (now 290.53), but neither have fixed the problem. I asked nvidia for help and they said mine is an OEM version and I should refer to Lenovo instead.

Has anyone got a solution?

Thanks in advance

I mean the driver. There is a clean install option in the driver installer

Re: y470: nVidia Control Panel crash

the drivers you used, from lenovo or nvdia?
have you also tried to use "last known good configuration" when you see lenovo logo at start-up by pressing f8?
